These birch trees have non-peeling chalky white bark marked with black triangles. The leaves turn yellow in winter and delicate catkins hang on the tree through the winter. Whitespire birch makes a good accent tree in the landscape and has more resistance to bronze birch borer than other birches. This tree prefers a well-drained moist soil.
